Exciting information on Magnesium and Glyphosate: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5823954/

“The presence of polyvalent cations (e.g., Ca2+, Mg2+) can lead to the formation of insoluble metal complexes of glyphosate and thus reduce its herbicidal effect.”

Insoluble metal complexes cannot get access to the inside of cells to do their damage. So the presence of magnesium in high amounts is a cell protector. Magnesium binds with glyphosate, forming an insoluble compound, which cannot be absorbed by cells and would be excreted by the digestive system.
